Mitsubishi Motors Philippines
identifies 270 Lancers with horn malfunction

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines in a press statement said that it has already identified the 270 Lancers which it has to inspect for horn malfunction. Although there were no warranty cases reported for this defect, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines nevertheless coordinated with the office of Undersecretary Adrian Cristobal Jr. of the Department of Trade and Industry late last month to take effect a service recall for these units.
The Lancer defect lies in the horn contact ring that was not tightened sufficiently at the assembly stage, thus when the driver presses the horn, the contact ring may become detached, and the horn will not make a sound. Mr. Kengo Takase, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines said that MMPC has already mobilized its Service Operations Department to trace the units from its customer and vehicle data. The 270 affected 1996 Lancer 1.3 models were identified to have the following
SERIAL/CHASSIS NUMBERS:
CK1ASN – 00031 up to CK1ASN – 00300

He said that all the Mitsubishi Motors Philippines service centers nationwide have been alerted to implement the inspection and replacement of the defective horn cover assembly of the affected units on a free of charge basis.
If your vehicle is part of the list above, it is requested that you get in touch with MMPC Service Operations Department c/o Engineer DAVE DOCTOR at telephone nos. 658-0719, or 658-0109 to 16 local 236
