Mitsubishi Motors PH Underscores Renewable Energy Progress, Shares Sustainability Best Practices at Environmental Summit

Mitsubishi Motors PH continues to strengthen its commitment to environmental sustainability, recently sharing its renewable energy initiatives at the Crisis Resilience and Sustainability Forum 2026 and being selected to present its environmental best practices during the 2026 Environmental Summit in Santa Rosa, Laguna.


During the forum organized by the Laguna Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Marfel M. Ancheta, Vice President of MMPC’s Safety, Health and Environment Department, highlighted the company’s ongoing sustainability initiatives and long-term environmental commitments, particularly its transition toward renewable energy and carbon neutrality.


“At present, around 20 percent of our facility’s electricity requirement is powered by our own solar panels,” Ancheta shared. “The remaining requirement is sourced entirely from renewable energy, allowing us to operate as a fully renewable energy manufacturing facility.”


Beyond renewable energy sourcing, MMPC continues to implement energy efficiency measures across its operations, including heat recovery systems, equipment and lighting upgrades to more energy-efficient technologies, and water recycling and conservation initiatives. These efforts support the company’s goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with an aspirational target of reaching this milestone as early as 2040.


Further demonstrating its commitment to sustainability leadership, MMPC was among the selected industry representatives invited by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Santa Rosa to share environmental programs and best practices during the 2026 Environmental Summit held on May 22 at the City of Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex.

Representing the company, Enrico G. Lapitan, Section Head and Manager of the Environment Section under the Safety, Health and Environment Department, presented MMPC’s initiatives on sustainability, resource conservation, environmental management, and solid waste management. The summit served as a platform for government agencies, industries, and private sector stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and promote environmental responsibility.


The event also featured discussions on Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, and Republic Act No. 11898, or the Extended Producer Responsibility Act, underscoring the importance of waste reduction, recycling, and circular economy practices as shared responsibilities among businesses and communities.

Through continued investments in renewable energy, resource efficiency, and environmental management, MMPC remains committed to advancing sustainable manufacturing practices while contributing to environmental stewardship and long-term sustainable development in the Philippines.
