2015 Model Year ASX Door Latch Replacement

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) will conduct a recall inspection campaign on some of 2015 Model Year Mitsubishi ASX due to a possible improper operation of lock mechanism. This proactive measure is to ensure the safety of our valued customers on the affected units.

The precision of the door latch component parts has been strictly controlled and the mold for component parts has been modified as from December 2016.

To check if your vehicle is included on the affected units that needs to be inspected, please coordinate with any Authorized Mitsubishi Dealer.

The replacement procedure alone of the affected door latches will take about 45 minutes if right hand door latches shall be replaced and about 75 minutes if all four door latches shall be replaced. Replacement shall be FREE-OF-CHARGE.

MMPC highly recommend customers to call their preferred Mitsubishi dealerships and book their appointment before visiting to ensure hassle-free (part allocation) and safe transaction. In case that the recall part is not yet available at dealerships at the time of call, customers will be listed in the dealership’s waiting list and will be notified once parts become available.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) – Service recall campaign - Replacement of door latches installed on some ASX models

1. Why is there a recall for door latch installed on some ASX models?

The lock mechanism in the door latch may not operate properly when the temperature become high due to insufficient precision of the part caused by inappropriate manufacturing process of the component parts.

2. What will be the possible consequence if I don’t go to dealership for replacement?

The door may not be locked securely and, in worst case, the door may open while driving.

3. How will I know if my vehicle is included in the recall?

Not all ASX 2015MY are affected thus MMPC advice is to check if your vehicle is included by coordinating with any Authorized Mitsubishi Dealer.

4. What should I do if my vehicle is affected?

You may call any authorized dealer to ask for to book an appointment or you may contact Mitsubishi Customer Care Center (CCC) at (+632) 250-8888 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

5. Do I need to pay for the replacement?

No. Replacement is FREE-OF-CHARGE.

6. How long will it take to inspect/replace the door latch?

7. Is it possible to replace the door latch in my residence?

Unfortunately, replacement of door latch can only be done inside the authorized Mitsubishi Service Centers.

8. Can I use the vehicle even the vehicle is not yet inspected?

Yes. However, MMPC recommends to book an appointment to your preferred dealer as soon as possible.

If you observed malfunction of door lock mechanism, call the nearest dealership immediately to do the necessary action.

9. Since I live far from the selling dealer, can a Mitsubishi dealership near my area facilitate the replacement of door latch?

Yes. You just need to inform the servicing dealer regarding your request, then book an appointment.
