ASX and Lancer EX (2015MY) Electrical Power Control Relay Replacement

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) will conduct a service recall campaign on some of Mitsubishi ASX and some Mitsubishi Lancer EX due to inadequate welding of internal metal parts on the relay used for electrical power control of the engine control. This proactive measure is to ensure the safety of our valued customers on the affected units.

Supplier of the relay has been changed from March 2016 production vehicles.

To check if your vehicle is included on the affected units that needs to be inspected, please coordinate with any Authorized Mitsubishi Dealer.

The replacement procedure of the affected electrical power relay will take about 18 minutes. Replacement shall be FREE-OF-CHARGE.

MMPC highly recommend customers to call their preferred Mitsubishi dealerships and book their appointment before visiting to ensure hassle-free (part allocation) and safe transaction. In case that the recall part is not yet available at dealerships at the time of call, customers will be listed in the dealership’s waiting list and will be notified once parts become available.

1. Why is there a recall for electrical power control relay installed on some ASX and some Lancer EX models?

Due to inadequate welding of internal metal parts of the relays used for electrical power control of the engine control and other systems, the welded part may abnormally generate heat, the welding may come off, and conduction failure may occur.

2. What will be the possible consequence if I don’t go to dealership for replacement?

There is a possibility that the engine stalls during driving, impossible to restart, the engine warning light up, and get into fail-safe mode.

3. How will I know if my vehicle is included in the recall?

Not all ASX and Lancer EX 2015MY are affected thus MMPC advice is to check if your vehicle is included by coordinating with any Authorized Mitsubishi Dealer.

4. What should I do if my vehicle is affected?

You may call any authorized dealer to ask for to book an appointment or you may contact Mitsubishi Customer Care Center (CCC) at (+632) 250-8888 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

5. Do I need to pay for the replacement?

No. Replacement is FREE-OF-CHARGE.

6. How long will it take to inspect/replace the power control relay?

The replacement procedure of the affected electrical power relay will take about 18 minutes.

7. Is it possible to replace the power control relay in my residence?

Unfortunately, replacement of power control relay can only be done inside the authorized Mitsubishi Service Centers.

8. Can I use the vehicle even the vehicle is not yet inspected?

Yes. However, MMPC recommends to book an appointment to your preferred dealer as soon as possible.

If you observed malfunction such as engine stalls during driving, impossible to restart, the engine warning light up or vehicle get into fail-safe mode, call the nearest dealership immediately to do the necessary action.

9. Since I live far from the selling dealer, can a Mitsubishi dealership near my area facilitate the replacement of power control relay?

Yes. You just need to inform the servicing dealer regarding your request, then book an appointment.
